Participating in an exhibition of work by professional and
semi-professional local artists.

Elly's paintings are rooted in landscape; a love of wide open spaces and big skies underlies her current work in oil and acrylic. Her colourful canvases are full of movement, giving her work an understated energy and a joyful lightness. Her frequent stays in South West France provide a constant inspirational source to draw from. She creates paintings in her garden studio in Surrey, or in the converted stable studio she uses in France.

Initially a student of painting and drawing at the City Literature Institute, London, she subsequently trained in the Practice and Theory of Visual Art, obtaining a BA Honours from Chelsea College of Art and Design, London. Elly regularly exhibits in solo and group exhibitions in London, Surrey and South West France. As a member of Surrey Artists Open Studios Elly’s garden studio in Epsom will be open to the public in June. She also undertakes commissions and has created work for private clients both in the UK and abroad. In 2014, five of her paintings were acquired for the Royal Marsden Hospital and are now on permanent display at the Chemotherapy Department, William Rouse Unit, Kingston Hospital. Earlier this year she was one of the artist voted as Surrey Artist of the Year 2015, resulting in a special exhibition in the New Ashgate Gallery, Farnham. Elly is also interested in making work in response to a particular location, such as the Brixton Lido in Brockwell Park, London, or Tentazioni, a trendy restaurant in London’s Docklands area.
