Creative arts students lead on festival design

MGSO4 Epsom & Ewell Arts Festival Student Competition

Students at Epsom’s University for the Creative Arts (UCA), and at North East Surrey College of Technology (NESCOT) are applying their skills to two ‘live’ festival briefs.

First year graphics and illustration undergraduates at UCA have been set the task of developing a visual concept for ‘Discovery,’ the theme of the 2018 MGSO4 Festival, that can be used across multi-media platforms.

Art & Design students from NESCOT are dedicating work experience time to developing poster designs promoting festival events that will be held at the college.

Voucher prizes for the winning designs and runners up from both local institutions have been kindly provided by Great Art, one of the UK's leading catalogue and online stores for quality art materials.

Festival Director Maria Reeves said: “Epsom is jam-packed with young creative talent and we’re so pleased that both UCA and NESCOT are involved with developing the festival. One of the main reasons that MGSO4 was set up in the first place was a desire to bring the arts out from behind closed doors to be shared and enjoyed amongst the community.

“This is a great opportunity for students at different stages of their creative education to present the town’s heritage and identity in their own way. The whole team is very excited about seeing what they come up with. And we’re very grateful to Great Art for providing prizes.”

Great Art will also be donating materials to visual arts workshops planned for the festival week 2nd - 8th July.
