£1000 festival funding awarded by county councillors

MGSO4 Epsom & Ewell Arts Festival is pleased to have received a £1000 donation from Surrey County Councillors John Beckett, Eber Kington and Jan Mason.

The allocation of funds – from the councillors’ discretionary members’ allocation – is a great boost at the start of the year that the arts festival will celebrate the 400-year-anniversary of the discovery of Epsom Salts.

Councillor Beckett said he was happy to support the festival as: “the arts should be open to all what ever your background.” He also commended the charity’s “strong community volunteer base.”

MGSO4’s Festival Director Maria Reeves said:

“There are many invisible costs to putting on a festival and work has already begun in earnest. This contribution will enable us to start putting plans into action and we are grateful to receive it. The name ‘MGSO4’ is inspired by the chemical formula for Epsom Salts, and the 2018 festival theme ‘Discovery’ is a great way to celebrate our town’s heritage in this anniversary year.”

MGSO4 Epsom & Ewell Arts Festival is a registered charity that aims to bring exciting creative experiences and opportunities to people of all ages in the community.

The week-long festival will include performances, workshops, exhibitions and interactive events, combining music, dance, words, theatre, circus and visual arts. The festival will be held 2nd – 8th July 2018 at venues throughout the borough.
