An exciting week-long programme of events has been revealed for this year’s MGSO4 Epsom & Ewell Arts Festival.
The festival theme ‘Discovery’ celebrates 400 years since Epsom Salts was first identified by farmer Henry Wicker in the mineral water bubbling up from his field – and the development of Epsom as England’s first spa town.
The arts festival (named after the chemical formula for Epsom Salts) will host performances, workshops, exhibitions and interactive events every day from 2 – 8 July. Printed programmes – hot off the press – can be picked up at key distribution points and venues from this weekend.
All events are now live on the website, and tickets can be booked online.
The festival image has been created by University of the Creative Arts’ graphic design student Nina Elstad. It features a giant rock of Epsom Salt rising from the ground. Keep an eye out for the design on posters around town.
MGSO4 Epsom & Ewell Arts is an independent charity, funded by sponsorship and donations. Thanks to our main sponsors: Epsom Square, Greenfield Estate Agents, Epsom Civic Society, Lionel Blackman and Product 2.
Thanks also to Ewell Castle School , Surrey County Councillors John Beckett, Eber Kington and Jan Mason for members’ allocations, The Arts Society Epsom for sponsoring The Lost Words Competition, and Bourne Hall Museum for supporting the first-ever street theatre performance of the seventeenth-century play Epsom Wells. Thank you to NESCOT, Epsom & Ewell Borough Council and Waterstones for providing festival venues.
So take a look at the programme and make sure you’re part of Epsom & Ewell’s fantastic arts festival, in that special place nestling between London and the heart of Surrey.
