Journeys Project 2020-21

The Epsom and Ewell Cantata

This mini musical was written by Rob Castell in collaboration with local children – inspired by the local area and the Covid pandemic lockdowns of 2020/21.

If you would like access to the script and music for your own performance please get in touch.

Watch The Vale Primary School perform All The Journeys We Didn’t Take, one of the six songs from the Cantata.

Creative Assemblies

The following assemblies were recorded as part of the 2020/2021 Journeys themed programme of work with local schools and Epsom PHAB, a local club for disabled and non-disabled children and young people.

Join Katherine from Long Nose Puppets to dive into the world of puppetry. Listen to Katherine’s answers to questions including:

  • Where does an idea for a puppet come from?
  • How can you make a puppet?
  • What are your top tips for being creative?

Rob Castell is a fantastic songwriter and musician. In the summer of 2021 – against all the Covid odds – he managed to collaborate with local children to write The Epsom and Ewell Cantata. In this assembly he performs a new song and shares advice on becoming a musician.

Do you know what a movement director is?

In this creative assembly, Annie-Lunnette shares stories of how she moved from being a dancer to creating the moves for others as a choreographer and movement director. There are even tips on how to pull off some simple moves if you’re a shy dancer.

Watch Annie-Lunette’s work with Epsom Phab here.

The Journeys Project was supported by Arts Council England and Co-op Community Causes.
